What is actually new on the net at the moment? Please, someone tell me? Everyone is either talking about the Wii or the PS3. I am telling you, if I see one more article about how either the Wii is horrible or how the PS3 is horrible, then I might just die.
Anyway, so besides that, anyone who is a regular Internet dweller, then you must have heard of Lonelygirl15. Now, everyone has known for a while that the whole thing was fake , but I never really cared either way. I never really watched “her” video blog posts, but from those who have I have heard that they were a very exciting soap opera.
It just goes to show what the Internet is capable of, but abusing that potential with nonsensical wii/ps3 articles popping out like rabbits just infuriates me.
Anyway, let me know when the internet is back to normal.
Oh! i forgot to mention! I got 90% on my drama practical exam. I am so shocked. I know, however, that i outdid myself in this performance. I almost starting crying. Everything just became too real for me. It was extremely difficult, but well worth all the stress and aggravation.

Right, this is the first time I have ever used a buzzword. I have recently seen articles about Web 3.0, and, this should come as no surprise, no one has come up with an exact explination. Although, I must admit that I don’t completely understand the term Web 2.0 either.
The creator of the Internet, Tim Berners-Lee, has stated that the Web 3.0 is “the Semantic Web”. Now, according to Wikipedia, the semantic web is…well…wikipedia doen’t really say.
This is going to sound very strange, but I think that your desktop will move online, and your Operating System will become absolutely useless…to most. They say that they want to move your life online, well, that may be all very well but how they plan to do that is a bit over my understanding.
Currently, you can do your Instant Messaging, Office tasks (word processing, spreadsheets), networking (a la MySpace, Facebook, Orkut etc), and many other things right in your browser. So, will Web 3.0 be the part of the webs history where everything else is moved online.
So, basically, I am seeing that in the future, it will be the speed of your internet connection that will be important; not the speed of your processor.

I don’t know if I am the only one who goes through these “phases”, as it were. Every two months or so I am obsessed with something new. For example:
I love musicals, and for a very long time I was completely obsessed over Phantom of the Opera. After that, I was obsessed with Jesus Christ Superstar, and I now I am utterly obsessed with Chicago. Why, you may ask? Well, I have no idea.
In writing and acting, I loved doing and writing comedies a few months back, then I passed that phase and went over to drama and now it is a mixture of bizarre horror and black comed. Yes, very strange for stage, I hear you say, but that is the truth.
I think this applies to everyone, but I am not sure. I just have weird things to obsess about. Other people have bands and all that jazz, but I don’t know. I am just weird.
Anyway, I am almost finished with my piano composition, so you can expect to be able to hear it and download the sheet music shortly. There are just a few things I have to change first. Some things are bothering me to no end. Not the mention the song is very easy in nature, but the sheet music is unbelievably difficult to write. Your hands don’t stay in their clef. They spring everywhere. There are even a few points you play the bass clef with your right and vice versa.
Anyway, thanks for reading!

The ONE thing that I hate about the current system we have when writing exams is the waiting after you have finished writing.
When you have finished writing your exam, you have to sit and wait until you may leave. Today, for instance, I wrote for one hour, and realised I still had one hour left to complete my 2 hour exam. Now, since I was finished, all I could do was sit there. And that is where the problem comes in.
I am lazy, I’ll admit, but being unproductive is something I cannot stand for. Sitting for an hour doing absolutely nothing and thinking of absolutely nothing is probably the worst punishment anyone can dish out at me.
Anyway, so I was sitting there, and the only that I could possible do was doodle on a piece of paper. So, how less productive can one be? I wish they could allow you to read a book or maybe…I don’t know…do homework for next year. I am not one for homework, in fact, I scarcely do it, but the point is that either they should let us write and let us leave when we are done or give us something to do to pass the time, and not just tell us “Go over your test again.” I mean, seriously, who actually even wants to look at a test again once you are done. I check my answers while I am answering them. I don’t plan to go back and check again.
But no point rambling on about that any longer.

Well, it has taken an eternity, but I am finally back in my regular seat infront of the computer! why have I been away? As per usual, you can blame Telkom. I have been capped since the 15th of October. A terrible feeling.
Anyway, so now I am back and I am starting with exams. It won’t be too bad. The Afrikaans exam is actually the only one I am NOT looking forward to. That is going to be horrible. Tomorrow’s English Grammar, so it wont be too much of a headache.
But anyway, sorry for not posting for so long (I am actually saying sorry to myself, it seems…). But yeah.

This has been a really interesting week. I have been inspired to write many things this week, most of which are published on my blog. I have two poems and a monologue.
The first poem is Love Between Friends, and is a poem about the strong love between two friends. A very moving piece, if I may say so myself. My second poem is Granny Sarah; a hilarious portrayal of how how an old granny perceives the changes of the world. Both of these poems are in Afrikaans, though.
Finally (and the piece I am most proud of) I have written a monologue about a homosexual teenager and his struggles with God and his peers. He shoots himself because of his troubles and trying to escape it all. The monologue is called Look at me now.
I hope you enjoy these poems and the monologue because I sure had fun writing them.

Don’t ask what a Maftoulian Creature is. I don’t know, but if anyone can recall that YouTube was enslaving then you won’t need to ask. This video is an entry into the YouTube Underground competition which is a competition where you write and sing a song, and enter it into the competition. From the 25th onward people will be able to vote for their favorite entries.
Anyway, I just thought that if you are considering to vote, that video should be on your list of videos to vote for. It is a really good song, but I don’t really think there is a point to it. Enjoy!

Have you ever experienced that phenomenon where you start writing on paper and all of a sudden, out of nowhere, you make an error.
Now, for some people, like me, you immediatly start looking for the backspace button. And no, I have actually found myself wishing for a backspace. So, what do you do? You scratch out your word and write it correctly. Either that, or you Tipp-Ex it out. Now you have this ugly blotch on your page, which offends most people’s eyes.
But there are worse things in the world. Like when you write a word, you change your mind, and you scratch it out and you end up writing that exact same word again after more consideration. Pathetic!
So, you may ask, what is my point? My point is that paper and pens should be completely removed from our current schooling system. Now, before you start bashing me because I am endlessly stupid, consider the following:
- When you do not use paper, a tree could be saved. Now doesn’t that mean something?
- Pens and paper have a limit. You have to spend money to purchase them. If you were to use computers, you would eliminate that need. Computers have a endless supply of…virtual paper.
- Teachers will have a much better time marking. Why? How many times to you have trouble reading someone’s handwriting? There you go.
- In an age where computers are the future of our world, knowing them (or at least frequently working on them) is of cardinal importance.
I know that someone, somewhere will say that we will loose our ability to write, but how many of us actually still possess the ability to write neatly? Especially teenagers, these days.
Computers are the future of the world, so why not embrace it. I know that the initial investment will be a little expensive, but why not invest in the future.
Also, I forgot to mention: I type MUCH faster than I write. Even if you type one letter per socond, it is a fact that you will finish faster (and more neatly) than with a hand written product.

I wasn’t sure whether to post this under the ‘Software Reviews’ category or the ‘Blog entries’ category, so I went with the former because this piece of Software really deserves your attention. Why? Because of its sheer openness and the support from Google it receives.
The Gozmo Project is, in short, real competition for Skype. I see a bright future ahead of it. It is a IM and SIP phone system, meaning that you can call to landlines (for the same price you would with Skype) and other people using SIP programs (most do) and Jabber contacts. Most importantly, you can also call contacts from your Google talk account. Now, isn’t that spectacular!
Unlike Spyke, Gizmo is fully supported under all operating systems. So is (theoretically) supported across Linux, Windows and Mac, but development for Linux and Mac are close to extinct. Both are many versions behind the Windows version.
Another feature which will count in Gizmo’s favour, is the fact that it uses Open Standards, even though it is not currently Open Source. Skype currently has the major market share in this sector, but its proprietary system will be its downfall.Watch
Watch out for this app!

If there is one thing that irritates me beyond anything in the world, it would have to be Assembly Period. There are a few things that top my list:
Firstly, there is the fact that the people in the front of the hall speak unbelievably slowly. Even more so if you count the fact that they speak of how other kids excel. Name, after name after name after name after name. Sitting for an hour listening to names is (in a word) boring. I grant them their moment of glory, but it came become a little overwhelming. My rear end started feeling the length of the period.
Secondly would be the boys in the hall. Most of them, anyway. They are complete and utter uneducated vermin to say the least. They are loud, disgusting and intrusive to one’s personal space. But that is minor, when you consider that fact that they feel compelled to put their dirty feet on the chair in front of them, while a one is sitting the aforementioned chair. So, that is probably the most irritating aspect of the entire hour of unbearable doom and torture.
So, after intensive study of those euphemisms, one would have to conclude that assembly period in Durbanville Highschool is probably the most boring (and painful) experience you will ever face.
End of rant.
